As a DuPont Licensed Industrial Applicator with decades of experience, we know our Teflon®. There is plenty to know, since Teflon® is a complete family of coatings that cover a wide range of applications. Teflon® coated components exhibit a number of valuable properties:
- NONSTICK - few solid substances will persistently adhere to a Teflon® finish.
- LOW FRICTION - Teflon’s coefficient of friction falls into the range of 0.05 to 0.20, depending on the size and speed of the load and the type of coating used
- NONWETTING - Surfaces coated with Teflon® repel both grease and water, easing cleanup and making self-cleaning components a possibility
- TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE - Teflon® will perform in temperatures as high as 260°C/500°F and as low as -270°C/-454°F. Higher temps to 316°C/600°F can be achieved with adequate ventilation
- UNIQUE ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES - Teflon® has high dielectric strength, low dissipation factor, and very high surface resistivity over a wide range of frequencies. Special techniques can also make it sufficiently electro conductive for use as an anti-static coating.
- CHEMICAL RESISTANCE - With the exception of molten alkali metals and highly reactive fluorinating agents, Teflon® is normally unaffected by chemical contact
